This interesting news short discusses the role of American railroads in the Space Age. Railroads are seen moving components of the Atlas missile, the containment vessel for the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station, and other atomic industry items. Modern railroad technologies are seen including modern humping yards, ribbon rails, new locomotives, flaw detection cars, etc. A research lab at the Illinois Institute of Technology that is devoted to railroad improvements is also shown .
