The Apache

The Apache was a named passenger train jointly operated by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and the Southern Pacific Railroad between Los Angeles, California and Chicago, Illinois, with connections to St. Louis, Missouri. The Apache traveled the same route as the Golden State Limited. While the Golden State was an express train between Los Angeles and Chicago via El Paso, Texas, The Apache made many more local stops. The Apache operated between 1926 and 1938. It was eventually replaced in 1946 by The Imperial.
